This site was created in memory of
Thomas Bocian.
Our loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Tom will be remembered by his wife of 32 years Barbara(Szpila); his children, Dr. Allison (Ryan) Duffner, Andrew (Jarrah) Bocian, Katie Bocian; grandchildren Collin, Conner, and Allie, and siblings Michael (Sharyn) Bocian and Laura Scribner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Karen Bates.
Tom was born on June 21, 1955, the son of Jerome and Alice (Perz) Bocian in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1973. Following high school, Tom was employed at Libbey Glass as a plumber-pipefitter and eventually went to work for American Axle.

Even though he worked long and hard at his profession he found time for his true passion: GOLF. He was an avid golfer with friends and family and owned his own golf business. He would often volunteer for PGA events. Tom was also well known for his umpiring and refereeing with the OHSAA and NCAA, within the surrounding states.

Tom loved watching his baseball and football games. Even though the Detroit Tigers were not so lucky on the playoff front, he continued to cheer for them. The Detroit Lions was his go-to football team and would watch them while hoping for a great season...are we all still waiting for that. And last but not least NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH! We are in a transition year and will continue to be our Favorite.

Tom not only loved his human family members but adored his faithful companions Zoey and Bubbie.

His family would like to thank Dr. Donald Vogel, Dr. Imad Hariri, and other critical care doctors and nurses in the cardiac ICU unit of Toledo hospital for their excellent patient care. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful nurses at Ebeid Hospice care.

Tom may not be with us currently, but he is taking charge from behind the home plate at a fantastic baseball game somewhere in the universe.
